Hello All PYC members,

               As many of you know, we are getting very close to the big event this year, the US Sailing Championship of Champions Regatta to be held at our club on September 16^th to 19^thwhen 16 of the best sailors in the country will be competing for the ultimate North American Championship.

As you might expect, preparations are well underway. All of the applications are in and the competitors have been selected by US Sailing. Of these, eight are Lightning sailors. They include: Matt Fisher (World and National Champion), Ched Proctor (National Champion, Masters Champion), Tim Scanlon (National Champion), Joe Stark (Masters Champion), Rob Ruhlman (Past ILCA President), Dave Peck, Nathan Ireland, and our own Mark Allen.

US Sailing has selected Phlotilla.com as the regatta website where all information for the regatta can be found. In addition, of course, information is available on our website at pyc54.org where you can pre-order tee shirts and dinners. 

This regatta is very different to any we have held before as the competitors will be sailing Lightnings loaned by our members. To keep the competition as equal as possible, the sailors will move to a different boat every couple of races, thus leveling out any difference in equipment. This also means that to make things work efficiently, we need to more than the usual 1 or 2 safety boats on the water. For this event we will need 5 boats in order to quickly and efficiently switch crews around from boat to boat. All the food from breakfast on Thursday to lunch on Sunday is already planned and well in hand. Entertainment in the form of live bands have been booked for Friday and Saturday evening. The dinners on both of those days are open to all PYC members at $25 per person. Please RSVP by Sept 12,2021. Friday evening is our popular and famous Pig Roast and Saturday is a choice of steak or chicken from the grille along with all the trimmings that our Blue Apron ladies prepare.  Dinner places are limited so please book your spot early.  Dinner are at 6PM. 

Come along and cheer for Mark Allen, have some great food, free beer, a fun time and meet some of the best sailors in North America.

In addition, we will be offering tee shirts for sale ($20) with the regatta design, as well as a limited number of cocktail glasses ($8) printed with the regatta logo.
